Need to prepare your firewood for winter without breaking your back?
Splitting wood with an axe or maul is backbreaking, slow, and dangerous work. To process several cubic meters quickly, a log splitter is essential. But choose your power carefully: a small electric splitter will stall on knotted oak, while a 20-ton gas splitter will crush any log.
With Poppins, make wood chores easy. Our app aggregates available stock for the first time: splitters from your neighbors, offers from garden centers, and fleets from professional rental companies. The result? You find a powerful machine just steps away, often trailer-mounted for easy transport.
Where can I find a log splitter quickly?
Although Poppins covers the entire country of France, you have a 95% chance of finding a device within 15 minutes of your location if you live in Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Nantes, Lille, Toulouse, or Marseille. In these cities, the density of our network (neighbors + partner retailers) guarantees immediate choice.
Is it worth buying a log splitter?
The math is simple. A quality splitter is expensive and takes up huge space in the garage to be used once a year. Renting is economically unbeatable.
On the Poppins app, you will find a wide range of log splitters adapted to your wood pile.To split a few cubic meters of soft wood (pine, birch) in 30cm lengths, a horizontal electric splitter (5 to 7 tons) from a neighbor is sufficient. For hard wood (oak, beech) or logs of 50cm and more, you need a powerful vertical splitter (10 tons +). If you have no electricity on site (in the forest), choose a gas splitter on a trailer (available from our pro partners).
Which log splitter should I choose?
On the Poppins app, the choice depends on your wood:
- Horizontal Electric Splitter (5-7 T): For small volumes and short logs (< 40cm). Sits on a table or has legs. Ideal for gardens.
- Vertical Electric Splitter (8-12 T): For logs up to 50cm or 1m. You work standing up, better ergonomics. Requires a 220V or 380V outlet (check this!).
- Gas Splitter (15-20 T): Pure power. Autonomous, trailer-mounted, it splits everything, even the hardest knots.
